Education

Calvary Lutheran Preschool

Calvary Lutheran School was established in 1979. It began with preschool classes for three and four-year-olds. In August of 1979 kindergarten was added. Currently, our school serves preschool-aged children ages three through five.

Mission Statement:

At Calvary Lutheran Preschool, the goal is to help children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. As a Christian school, children learn in an atmosphere of love where they are accepted unconditionally, and where they learn that Jesus Christ loves them just as they are.

Throughout the school year, children learn about Jesus and His love for all people. Bible stories and related songs are presented during the chapel time each week. Math, language, and social skills are emphasized to help prepare the students for kindergarten. Fun-themed activities around holidays and special events are a regular part of the school schedule.

Preschool teacher, Lucy Rangel, can be contacted at the school phone:

509 837-6771.

Calvary Lutheran Ladies’ Society

Our Mission
As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.

Our Calvary group meets monthly for fellowship and a business meeting. We save and collect mites (coins and other small cash amounts) which help support district and worldwide missions. Through the annual apple pie-making fundraiser started in the mid-1990s, the group supports several charities including sponsoring a seminary student and giving to the local hospice, Calvary Preschool, and our church youth group.  The ladies keep our kitchen well stocked, and prepare and serve for funerals, weddings, baptisms, and other church events.  They also prepare the Lord’s Supper for worship services and decorate the church for major festivals. Some annual events include Mother’s Day salad supper, summer mystery trip, plus zone and district activities including  Fall Rally and Spring Joy Shop.

Calvary Ladies’ Society is a part of the Inter-Valley Zone, which includes Calvary, Bethlehem Lutheran, and Mount Olive Lutheran, both in Yakima.
